Okay, good cop, bad cop. I like the storyline. I like the idea that a Comet is coming towards Earth and only a select few know about it, I like the idea of have three ways out (four counting the Chinese which will somehow work its way in). (Now BAD cop) all through the book I was told the President was going to announce that the Comet was coming, and the book ended before that happened (WHAT?) means I don't like where the author ended book 4. also, there is a dirt poor high school kid who has a sports scholarship to attend snooty rich high school. His low life dad comes home one night drunk (as usual) but this night he has his face all bashed up, so the kid takes his dad to hospital, gets him all fixed up, brings him home and then the kid only gets about an hour of sleep and then has to go to school and pitch in a game that is attended by talent scouts. So of course he fails, they lose the game, then he is walking off with his best (loser) friend, and three of the snooty high school boys are jeering at him. so his uber rich friend starts a fight, they are all over him so poor boy has to step in and save his uber rich friend, and of course breaks his hand (yes, of course its his pitching hand) and then his uber rich friend drives them home, three deer run out in front of the car, they have an accident and car is demolished when it hits a tree. Uber rich friend panics because he consumed a six pack of beer during the game (poor boy didn't notice he was drunk after the game? really?) so uber rich convinces poor boy to take the blame, which he does, then uber rich boy goes home. the police come, they find a joint in the ash tray, so they take him to hospital to put hand in cast (he wont play ball again that year, and maybe not ever) and then to jail. police call his daddy, who is still out drinking until wee hours, then he goes to school next day, uber rich friend is missing, boy gets expelled from school, then cant go to public school because rich school wants tuition for the year before they give out his record. Now, I know this is fiction, but really? that seems like a little much in not even a 24 hour period for one fictional character to take. but the story was worth continuing, hopefully the author will put all pertinent details in the next book in the series.Product details

Comet Clement Nears
A comet, plummeting toward earth on a collision course has been doing so, ever since its discovery in book #1 (which I reviewed favorably). Now, in book #4, the comet is only three months from that fatal collision point. Yet, only an inner circle is aware of what’s happening. Working in secret, one part of the group is burrowing deep into the Ural Mountains; another group has developed a super submarine to save a select few elite citizens; and a government group has built a super space station to provide an escape for an additional elite group from all walks of life (or so). No one outside the inner circle has ever looked skyward obviously, because that comet should be detectable with a pair of binoculars...after all, it’s big enough to really deliver a knockout punch to mother earth. The book contains so many back stories and asides, that a reader would be well advised to develop a scorecard to keep track of it all. The biggest goof on my part was expecting a tight read without reading books 2 and 3.
A hard book to review. I liked the premise but the execution was rough. This is not a complete story. I seem to have jumped in the middle of the beginning. It is a lot of individual events in lots of peoples lives.
The story is told mostly in narrative and there is a lot of back-story as it is book four and tries to catch you up with books before. It also repeats the same theme/information in several scenes to different sets of characters. More tightly written, it could have been half as long. Having said all this, I still read through to the end (being surprised to find it just stops), but I did love the story behind the two boys and their struggles as well as the mystery of who will find out next about what is happening that a select few are keeping secret.
I doubt I will read any of the rest as there was so little really going on except for everyone talking to each other about the end to come and the plans to save someone. I felt I wasted several hours on what should have been maybe 10 chapters. Still, I loved the idea behind the story and the basic plot line.
Book 4 in the Comet Clement series.
After reading this, I wondered why I was reading a 4th book in a series. I read the first book, but if I read any of the others they were evidently forgettable.
The characters are predictable, and if there is a hero in this, I don't know who it's supposed to be. None of the so-called good guys; they all have glaring weaknesses or character flaws. The bad guys are worse.
This is all about a comet due to strike the earth, and the preparations made by the government to insure that humanity lives on. Though why should it, considering the vast cast of greedy, selfish, foolish people characterized here? I found myself hoping that the comet would hurry up and wipe everyone out.
Also, why haven't any amateur stargazers noticed this large comet heading straight for Earth? Impact in less than 3 months, and very few people are aware of anything. I feel sure that by that time it would have been sighted by several groups world-wide.
Results don't waste your money. Well, unless you want to read 10 or so episodes more.
